The mere fact that London is a global city what happens here eventually has a bearing on what happens across the world in some way shape or form. Our businesses, our culture, our entertainment, our fashion, our tolerance, our harmony, our freedoms, our respect, our ability to welcome, our debates, our history, our way of life is envied, respected, and aspired to in far greater numbers than not.

What do we see are the major issues that affect small business and lifestyle moving forward into 2016:

The EU conundrum

The health and wellbeing of London

The transport issues

The environment and climate change

The quality of the workforce

Opportunities for young Londoners

Affordable housing

The standard of living of Londoners

The EU, should we stay or should we go?

In principal the EU is a sound and reasonable proposition. Is it working as well as it could be or should? What should be done? It is our opinion that being an active participant in the debate as part of the EU is a better proposition than having to react to decisions made without our input. Its far better to affect positive change within a system than not.

Health, wellbeing, transport and climate change, what’s happening?

The health and wellbeing of London is intimately connected to transport, the environment and climate change. The city is consistently failing on air quality, congestion in London being the cause, upgrades in transport infrastructure, roads and cycle lanes are ongoing, and the increase of TB in the population is a concern; strained health services and A&E overload is a matter for concern but, it being a work in progress gives us confidence that these matters will be addressed soon; however being a global city, the opportunities for a skilled workforce from across the globe need to be factored into the current and future projections for infrastructure.

Do we have the quality of workforce to drive sustainable growth?

There is a skills shortage, there is a mismatch, there are opportunities for small businesses, be they micro, one person operations, multinational medium size businesses recognise the need for a sufficiently skilled and proficient workforce is a must; what do we intend to do? Through our @cademy we will be offering opportunities to train and develop those skills of young Londoners, SMEs, Startups and Entrepreneurs, to collaborate, to develop, to increase opportunities within our framework.

Our back office infrastructure is near completion and our capabilities are going to increase exponentially in the coming days, weeks, months and years. Our ability to deliver a greater range of products and services for small business moving forward is a matter of great optimism for us and we are looking forward to announcing those opportunities to work with us in the new year.

Affordable housing and the access to quality homes?

This is an issue that we have long thought of as being an issue as have many, what do we intend to do? We are planning to work with key partners to be announced moving forward into 2016 on improving opportunities and access to quality affordable mixed use developments on small to medium scales. We will keep you posted on developments.

How will the standard of living of Londoners be improved?

We are not able to affect wholesale change but working as part of a greater collaboration with the express intention of making the above happen by improving opportunities and facilitating positive change, by increasing access to skills development, employment and entrepreneurship we aim to earn, learn, increase adaptability, through diversification of work style, accessibility, and variety the traditional, augmented with the dynamic, to find creative solutions to make our business and lifestyle sustainable and responsible because the greatest threat to our existence is climate change. It recognises no border, no race, no creed, no colour, no religion, we are all at the mercy of the environment and it requires a concerted, united, and diverse solutions for the betterment of all.

In a world of insanity, extremism and bigotry it is our intention to promote the best of London business and lifestyle past, present, and future responsibly, sustainably for the foreseeable future and we invite you along to join us on this exciting journey.

From all of us at WhereIts@London we wish you a very merry christmas and a happy new year.
